"The LMBs do so much for so little. They show what they can do for kids on a shoestring budget. Even in a tough economy they are able to show results including working to help children be ready for school and succeed in school."
~ Senator Nancy J. King (from the report)
A newly released report found that LMBs are not only fulfilling the roles required of them by state law, but they have gone beyond legal mandates to become a "part of the fabric of community life." The strongest evidence came from over 800 respondents to a survey regarding the value of their local LMB. LMBs received the highest positive response rate (87%) for their success in achieving better results for children and families.
LMBs' actions are making a difference by preventing problems before they occur, keeping children safe with their families, promoting the positive development of young people, and helping parents support and nurture their children.
This report was made possible by the generous support of the Richard A. Henson Foundation in Salisbury, MD, and the Annie E. Casey Foundation in Baltimore. To read the Executive Summary or full report, please visit the Maryland Association of LMBs new website at http://mdlmb.org.
